Install a standalone agent
Run the native agent on a Linux, Apple Silicon macOS, or Windows host.
Before you begin
Download the executable that matches your operating system and architecture from Setup. Create a dedicated writable directory for the executable and configuration.
The agent acts with the permissions of the user running it. Choose that user deliberately, particularly for Shell, Files, Services, and container access.
Linux needs glibc, zlib, and libgcc. The Linux x64 build also needs SQLite and libcrypt. Alpine's musl environment is not a compatible native host. macOS supports Apple Silicon; the download is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized.
Create the configuration
Save config.yml in the chosen directory:
agentKey: "<agentKey>"Replace the placeholder with the key from this record's Setup page. Keep the file readable only by the agent user.
Start the executable
chmod +x EnderDash-Standalone-linux-x64
./EnderDash-Standalone-linux-x64 --config config.ymlFor ARM64, use the downloaded EnderDash-Standalone-linux-arm64 filename instead.
The --config path is relative to your current working directory unless you supply an absolute path.
Without that option, Linux and macOS use ~/.enderdash/config.yml. Windows uses %APPDATA%\EnderDash\config.yml.
Verify and keep it running
Wait for Online in EnderDash. Open Info and verify the host details. Open Files and confirm that the directory belongs to the intended agent user.
For unattended operation, configure your host's service manager with an absolute executable path, configuration path, and explicit user. Restart the service to verify that it reconnects without an interactive shell.
Updates and startup failures
Automatic updates stage a replacement beside the executable. A restart applies it, so the directory must remain writable. If you control releases manually, set autoUpdate: false.
A missing system library error happens before registration. Install the operating system's required libraries first. For an agent that starts but stays offline, use offline recovery.
Next: configuration defaults and update or remove the agent.
