Edit and transfer server files
Browse the agent filesystem, save a small change, and confirm it reached the right runtime.
Before you begin
You need server access and filesystem support from the connected agent. The agent's operating-system user must be able to read or write the chosen path.
EnderDash can change runtime files. Save an independent copy before editing important configuration. File access follows the agent's host permissions, so do not assume it stops at the game directory.
Make a small, reversible edit
- Open the server's Files panel.
- Confirm the breadcrumb or File path points to the intended directory.
- Download a copy of the file you intend to change.
- Open a supported text file and change one setting.
- Choose Save and wait for the result.
- Reopen the file and confirm the saved value.
- If the application needs a reload or restart, perform that through its documented procedure.
Saving a file does not automatically reload the software that reads it. For EnderDash's own file, see agent configuration.
Upload or download
Use Upload to select local files. Upload folder is available when the browser supports folder selection. Confirm the destination before uploading, particularly when filenames already exist.
Download the required file through its file action. Check the browser's completed download before treating it as a backup. A file transfer failure can leave a workflow incomplete even when the server remains online.
Binary files use a viewer rather than the text editor. Do not try to repair a jar or other binary by editing its bytes as text.
Recover from an error
- Permission denied: check the agent user's directory and file permissions on the host.
- Wrong directory: verify the record's runtime identity and the displayed path.
- A saved setting has no effect: check the application's reload behavior and environment overrides.
- Transfer interrupted: reconnect, inspect the destination, and retry only the missing transfer.
Deletion does not provide an EnderDash backup or a guaranteed trash recovery path. Keep copies outside the files you are replacing or removing.
